All dogs must be accompanied by and under the immediate supervision and full control of the owner or other responsible person. If you are using the dog park your dog must be on a leash at all times. Thank you very much.
All dogs that are picked up by the Dog Control Officer are taken to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. The phone number is (518) 885-4113. The Shelter is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed Sundays & Holidays. In order to redeem a dog from the Shelter you must have proof of a current license. If the dog is unlicensed, it must be licensed at Town Hall before you can pick the dog up. Proof of current rabies vaccination is also required.
Dog Licensing
New York State Law requires that all dogs must be licensed in the Town, City or Village where the dog is harbored at the age of 4 months. For new dog licenses, a current rabies certificate and a spay/neuter certificate, if applicable, is required. For a renewal, a rabies certificate, if required, must be presented. (The rabies vaccination must be in effect for at least one full month after the issued date of the license.) Fees for un-neutered or un-spayed dogs are $15.00; for neutered and spayed dogs, $8.00. To renew dog licenses by mail, please enclose both parts of the renewal form sent to you, along with all necessary paperwork to the Town Clerk's Office.
Nuisance Wildlife Complaints
The Dog Control Officer does not handle nuisance wildlife complaints. These inquiries should be directed to a pest control service specializing in nuisance wildlife removal.
